In a world where minimalism is too often mistaken for absence, Akris Spring/Summer 2026 redefines the essence of simplicity.
Under the vision of Albert Kriemler, the Swiss fashion house draws inspiration from the work of Leon Polk Smith, a pioneer of the Hard-Edge movement and a master of colour and line.
Yet, rather than surrendering to austerity, the collection finds in purity a new territory for expansion — a space where form, texture and movement coexist in precise yet liberated harmony.
Kriemler recalls his visit to Smith’s exhibition at Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, where the sculpture Seven Involvements in One revealed the artist’s true paradox: the opposite of minimal.
That spirit pulses through every silhouette in the collection. “Akris is not about looking minimal; it’s about being essential,” says the designer — a philosophy translated into garments that balance structure and sensuality with disarming grace.
The fabrics — a language Akris speaks with Swiss precision — sculpt the body with architectural fluidity: draped fringe knits echo Smith’s curvilinear lines, trapezoid embroideries evolve into sculptural gestures, and translucent overlays engage in quiet dialogue with pragmatic denim and supple summer leather.
The colour palette bridges art and life. Sunlight yellow, lapis blue and orange ignite accessories such as the Alice bag, now reimagined in horsehair and satin, offering flashes of contained energy within the serene geometry of the collection.
Beyond the Paris Fashion Week runway, Akris SS2026 emerges as a manifesto of essential design.
At the intersection of colour and line, of reason and emotion, Kriemler crafts a narrative reminding us that simplicity is not a retreat — it is an act of affirmation.
In this dialogue between art and fashion, Akris honours Leon Polk Smith’s legacy, proving that true modernity lies not in novelty, but in timelessness — in that suspended instant where a line and a colour are enough to express everything.
Lo que casi nadie te muestra, lo que pasa entre bastidores. Nuestro sincero reconocimiento a los inmejorables profesionales que trabajaron duro en el backstage de Akris.
