In a dazzling ode to India’s architectural memory and sacred heritage, Rahul Mishra’s forthcoming Autumn-Winter 2026-2027 Haute Couture collection, dubbed DEVI: The Eternal Muse, pays tribute to temple sculptures and stone-carved goddesses, unleashing their divine essence on the catwalk in Paris.
Rahul Mishra chose the Collège des Bernardins in Paris to present his haute couture collection for the upcoming autumn-winter 2026–2027 season, christened DEVI: The Eternal Muse.
Through this collection, he presents the human body transformed into a rich visual legacy through adornment with layers of necklaces, headdresses, bracelets and belts that turn the jewellery itself into a dress.
While traditional sculpture relies on stone to shape spectacular creations, the Mishra universe achieves this through the art of ‘accumulation’.
In this way, stitch by stitch, the brand reinterprets mineral relief, transforming lightweight fabrics into carved surfaces through a technical feat of hand embroidery.
Rahul Mishra’s collection is presented as a true chromatic and tactile journey, where the textures of sandstone, quarry soapstone, bronze and basalt come to life against the skin.
Using traditional Indian embroidery techniques such as zardozi and dabka, interwoven with crystals, precious stones and tube beads, Mishra’s workshop achieves a stunning trompe-l’œil effect.
In this way, the pieces manage to simulate mythological reliefs that appear to have been chiselled onto the female silhouette.
The dialogue between the earthly and the sacred is intensified through an unprecedented multidisciplinary collaboration.
To crown the silhouettes with the majestic tiaras and ceremonial crowns depicted in ancient engravings, Mishra’s design team has collaborated with Sumant Kumar, a master craftsman specialising in clay.
This rich setting has been enhanced by the artistic sensibility of the legendary British milliner Stephen Jones, who was commissioned to design the veils and headpieces for the catwalk, succeeding in building, through each piece, an idyllic bridge between India’s artisanal roots and the radical elegance of avant-garde millinery.
At DEVI, Rahul Mishra has succeeded in transforming clothing from mere fabric into a true talisman – a living architecture that invites reflection on the ritual of dressing and the artist’s elusive quest to capture eternal beauty.
