Pierre Cardin’s sustainable futurism
Past and future. Technology and sustainability.
Combinations destined to come together in a collection under the direction of Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin.
Pierre Cardin‘s next collection, under the creative direction of Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, grand-nephew of the maison’s founder, since the designer passed away in 2020, is presented as a journey through time and a clear tribute to Pierre Cardin‘s legacy.
A collection that offers a perfect blend of the past and the future, in which technology and sustainability walk hand in hand magnificently.
Pierre Cardin presents a collection that evokes a future in which humanity could live in the depths of the sea.
A collection that, moreover, could be understood as a continuation of the previous one, which was also inspired by the sea, albeit by its more natural side.
It is, according to Basilicati-Cardin, a much more technological collection, dedicated to energy recovery, in which geometry is still present, as in Cardin‘s time, but with a much more fluid approach, making use of techniques such as 3D printing, to offer truly surprising results.
For the upcoming spring-summer 2025 season, the maison offers us proposals such as dresses of different lengths and jackets with their own particular DNA, made with a combination of natural and synthetic fibres.
Some fabrics taken as a heritage, existing in the house for decades, such as vinyl and wool crepes, along with some of vegetable origin.
The result: a rebirth of many of the pieces to which Cardin had historically accustomed us, but with a touch much more typical of the century of which they are now part.
A collection in which Basilicati-Cardin wants to continue putting the signature of his great-uncle in the centre of current fashion, but adding to it a more contemporary air.
Pierre Cardin invites us, through its next collection, to take care of the environment and to think about what we can do for the sustainability of our surroundings.
True to the visionary spirit of the house, each pattern reflects the search for new shapes and materials.
Fluids, symmetry, curves, volumes…
Everything is perfectly measured so that the body obsessively seeks its liberation, through shapes that, although they might sometimes seem impossible to wear, the maison seeks to turn into indispensable pieces for the coming season.
A colourful collection, undoubtedly from the future, in which blues – a clear nod to the oceans – greens, yellows, fuchsias, and pinks are combined with classic black and white to attract the attention of all.
Thus is born and thus is presented a collection inspired by the recovery of energy that arrives ready to make a place for itself in our wardrobes, looking to the future without forgetting the past and, above all, the Pierre Cardin legacy.
