Maitrepierre proposes, through Future Memory, an introspective journey; a journey from yesterday to tomorrow, which we always face with uncertainty.
To do this, Maitrepierre seeks to turn each garment into an emotional archive through cuts that recreate footprints, fabrics that beat to the rhythm of life, surfaces that are transformed to adapt to their environment.
Maitrepierre speaks not only of clothing, but also of memory, of anticipation, of a past that seeks to unite with projection, with future; of a link between what we were and what we will be.
To achieve this, Maitrepierre paints with a palette full of ambivalence: lavender greys, colourful beiges, burnt earth, and metallic accents in soft silver and aged bronze. The hues employed are reminiscent of fallen leaves and twilight skies.
At first glance, everything seems antique; as we get closer, we discover contemporary textures, reminiscent of digital and modern materials that can be moulded to one’s touch.
The coats take centre stage. Their structure is inspired by the aesthetics of modern armour: taut shoulders, geometric lines, and magnetic fastenings whisper an almost digital click.
The dresses and skirts are presented as pieces full of overlays, like semi-translucent gauzes, evoking those sometimes-faded memories of yesterday; diagonally-cut velvets and panels with micro pleats undulate with each step, creating swirls that fade behind each step of the wearer.
