Elie Saab Haute Couture SS26: Golden Nights of the Seventies

The new Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2026 collection by Elie Saab captured the hedonistic spirit of the seventies jet-set in a show that was, above all, a declaration of freedom.

Paris surrendered to Elie Saab once more. During Haute Couture Week, the Lebanese maison presented its Spring-Summer 2026 collection under the title Golden Summer Nights of ’71 — a proposal that conjured the gilded glamour of summer evenings between Milos and Marrakech, when the seventies jet-set claimed the Mediterranean as their own mythical territory.

The universe Saab built for this season revolved around one defining figure: the radiant nomad, a free-spirited and untameable woman who enchants artists and adventurers wherever she goes. She does not dress to please. She dresses to exist, to burn, to leave a trace as she passes. The collection expressed this with an almost cinematic precision.

Haute Couture engaged here with a hedonistic sensibility rarely permitted on the most formal runways. Leather was worn like jewellery. Woven textures merged with abstract prints. Ethnic patterns cascaded alongside bright crystals, silver entwined with gold — a layering of references that felt exuberant without ever tipping into excess.

Surprises were a constant throughout. Dresses that, when spun, revealed an open back adorned with a hand-embroidered strap. Ombré chiffons that shifted in hue with every movement. Embellished metal mesh evoking the gleam of stars. Saab also played with volume and structure: layered over evening gowns, a sleeveless gilet, a cropped jacket or a dramatic feathered coat redefined the silhouette without ever constraining it.

The defining moment came with the bridal look. Emerging like an apparition from the scented darkness, the collection’s bride wore a soft beige rosé slip interwoven with lace and embroidered with stones. Light as air, precious as a jewel, completed by an ethereal veil that wrapped everything in an almost magical stillness. It was the perfect close to a collection that never lost sight of its purpose: pure beauty in service of seductive freedom.

Golden Summer Nights of ’71 confirmed that Elie Saab remains one of the great masters of contemporary haute couture — capable of invoking nostalgia without succumbing to melancholy, of being spectacular without sacrificing elegance, of dressing a woman at the height of her powers with a naturalness that is, in truth, the result of quite extraordinary craft.

A summer night one simply does not forget.
