Emotional Intelligence vs. Artificial Intelligence
Goodbye 2025. Hello 2026.
Against all odds, we try to stay on the path of the optimists and survive the tide of nightmarish news about wars, terrorist attacks, fires, human and ecological disasters, and invasion attempts that echo the paranoid delusions of Alexander the Great, Napoleon and Hitler.
We take a deep breath as we are engulfed by the avalanche of artificial intelligence in our lives.
OK, it will bring progress and much good, but it is also a double-edged sword if used maliciously or stupidly.
It is extremely urgent to create international laws that regulate these new situations and those that will arise…
The topic evokes in us a mixture of exciting attraction and existential vertigo.
What if one day machines were to dominate humanity?
It’s worth revisiting a classic of psychological literature:
“Emotional Intelligence,” by Daniel Goleman (1995).
We all have two minds: one that thinks and one that feels.
These two forms of knowledge construct our mental life. We can channel them toward good or toward evil.
Sigmund Freud explained in “Civilisation and discontent” that our decisions and actions depend as much on our feelings as on our thoughts.
As is our custom, at Neomania we choose to focus on the positive, the beauty and creativity of human beings versus the non-being of AI and robots.
In this issue, we applaud creators such as: Zaha Hadid, Mr. Cartier, designers Louboutin, Tom Ford, Issey Miyake, Gaultier, Balmain, ETAM, Shiatzy Chen, and UJOH, collector Heinz Berggruen, and Dada artists.
Neomania wishes you a 2026 full of enthusiastic emotional intelligence, personal motivation and peace in your soul.
